That's not as obvious as it sounds.

If I divorce my wife I can legally bed a 13 year old girl, provided I marry her. If I was never married, I can do the same, even though I'm 54.

A POLYGYNIST can do precisely the same things, but because he cannot engage in legal marriage, it's against the law. That's all.

Now if you think about that, Government has made an act illegal for one group of people, that is not illegal for another group of people. Age, sex, religion, creed. All of those things could be the same for two people. The difference that one believes in and practices polygyny does not make that person criminal for their POLYGYNY, it makes them criminal because they can't register their marriage to the younger person.Hugh McBrydehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16926516260588481185noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31762465.post-42278316691563707362008-07-22T17:45:00.000-04:002008-07-22T17:45:00.000-04:00It is in fact a crime that only exists because of ...It is in fact a crime that only exists because of the refusal on the part of various governments to allow Polygamy legally.

Well, yes. A crime is something a government has passed laws against. That doesn't really mean much.Lucillehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03225011724349777456noreply@blogger.com
