They're kinda missing the point. The correct way to look at Judges 19, is to look at it, and the following two chapters which are the end of the Book of Judges. In all, it is the lengthiest story in all of the Old Testament in terms of sticking to the same narrative. The last story in a book. The longest continuous narrative. That's important. The summation is the Concubine is from the tribe of Judah. As was the frequent practice, Judah and Levi intermarried. The crime is horrific. The Levite husband and his wife are not the best of Characters and arguably, aside from the townsfolk of Benjamin, the husband is the worst character. What is the point? It's the response of Israel, who as a nation hit the ground running and in the face of overwhelmingly bad results, keep prosecuting the war to it's conclusion to avenge the Concubine's rape and murder. How do we KNOW? The Avenger of Blood is JUDAH, they go up first.
