Press Turmoil and YFZ coverage

I admit it, I've been shopping my CSPD/Swinton story with zero success.

That doesn't mean it won't turn into something. On the one hand you hope for that "Holy Grail" revelation that will turn the tide on the YFZ case if you are like me, on the other hand, no matter what you think of the people involved, it's hard to wish disaster on any of them. Why would I, for instance, want Lt. Maggie Santos to be in the Klieg lights explaining that she supplied voice talent to someone to create the "cry for help" that was the bogus basis of last year's raid? There's a good chance that the story might eventually go that way.

In shopping the story around, as I have shopped several ignored and real stories around, I have found a remarkable declining knowledge base on the raid, the largest child custody case in US History. 18 months later, few in the press really know anything any longer. One of the reasons I can tell someone might well be lying to me when I do some of my own interviewing and research on this story is that, well, I run into a lot of lying witnesses to certain events and on average the lot of them lie transparently. I am able to gauge this by the fuzzy recollections of the press who can barely remember, and then when the events are called to memory have that "dawning awareness" moment when it all clicks. They get on the same page with you, then they still don't care, but it's a useful comparison.

The public is several notches of awareness below the press, but the gap is closing. Not because the public is becoming more aware, but because the press is becoming less so. The YFZ raid is a layered discussion. Most want to dismiss it because "they" gave the kids back and "those men" are creepy molesters and they got caught, right? It's shocking to see the knowledge of the press deteriorate to the level of knowledge of the public at large. It's mostly due to attrition.

Starting with Ben Winslow, major players in the coverage have either switched jobs, or just plain gotten out of the industry. Ben went from the Deseret News, the "in house" publication of the LDS Church to KSL Fox13 in Salt Lake City. Since then I haven't seen him cover much on the FLDS story. He and the paper got awards for their coverage, and he flew the coop.

Then there was Paul Anthony of the San Angelo Standard-Times who inadvertently provided a lot of the really good stuff, not because I think he wanted to, he was just there to stumble upon it. I'm not trying to insult Paul but there were better writers out there covering the story and Paul often made mistakes that he never bothered to correct. Fundamental mistakes, but he was there and if you wanted to hear it first, it was often from Paul. Paul took a job in with the city of San Angelo, and left the business altogether.

Tak Landrock works for KRDO in Denver. At least he does until Friday. He is going to Edward Jones as a broker, I might guess. I wish him well. Outta da business. Can't say I blame any of them. I was a media guy decades ago. It's why I know what a Klieg Light is. The media doesn't pay well and apparently, like a lot of journalists, young Tak was in it to make a difference and said that no one wants an investigative reporter anymore. Not surprising really. With papers going out of business and businesses hurting, no one wants to put the wood to a potential advertiser. Tak also got some details wrong in the early reporting, but also brought a good deal of the details to light about prankster Rozita.

Only the AP's Michelle Roberts and Brooke Adams are left, pretty much, in the sames spots they were when all this started. There are the reporters at the Houston Chronicle that do a fair job, but they are for all intents and purposes about as far away from the issue as I am and their articles are infrequent. I have described Brooke as having an anti FLDS agenda, and I'm not backing off that description. It's regarded as petty and self serving, but it still remains that when it comes to blogs that might be considered FLDS centric, I am numero uno, not by a little, but by a lot, and have been the better part of this entire year. She doesn't link to me, but links instead to anti FLDS blogs, some of them extremely vile and vitriolic. I should say that I'm not numero uno "by a lot" overall, because Bill Medvecky has been number one, and is a very close second these days. With his more frequent posting recently, he may be number one again, and very soon. Brooke doesn't link to him either, and if you could say Bill was a little heavy handed at times, he's better company than Brooke's Kafkaesque accusers, because he has the added virtue of not being anonymous.

One has to assume that Brooke gets a lot of readership at the "Plural Life" blog hosted by the Salt Lake Tribune. She's got a built in feed. She's also a good reporter. I enjoy her writing and have told her so. This is in spite of the fact that in the last year I've found it difficult to trust her as objective. Let's just say she knows how to put on a show as far as I am concerned. ANTI FLDS centric (ok, DOMINATED) blogs have to be assumed to benefit from the "Trickle Down" of Tribune Traffic passing through the Plural Life and then on down to the few sites Brooke lists as places to go for Blog Talk. She's even listed the anonymous authors of those blogs as important sources and places to go in some posts.

Yes, I tend to digress to make points but here it finally is. There is no friendly coverage of the FLDS in the Main Stream Media. The newcomers don't want to know. The story was all over once the last kid went back. The last vestiges of "friendly" coverage are drifting away into the sunset like Tak Landrock. "Friendly" in this case is a qualified word since really all I can say is they listened better and more sincerely and in a couple of instances recently, it seemed like some of them were ready to publish, and got shot down by editorial staff. We're left with those that want to see the FLDS 12 in Texas get convicted and go to jail and thus don't want to write about stories that might lead to their exoneration or escape.

The rest of the media are rookies to the story and have to be brought up to speed, and they don't want to be. They listen politely for about 15 seconds and then you can hear their attention span go brittle and break almost audibly. It's sorta like a sonic boom. These folks are the above mentioned reporters who know about as much about the FLDS raid as the average person on the street, which in today's lingo is NADA. Zero. Nuttin'. When you finally get the light of awareness to go on for them, that's when you hear their attention go south. Their knowledge of the FLDS story is superficial and all they remember are the media talking points which are that there was a fake call, but there was overwhelming incriminating evidence seen at the ranch and what could the Police then do? The creeps were arrested for raping little girls and good riddance. In that atmosphere all the facts in the world don't sell the story, because you can't get anyone to look at the facts.

In this way Texas has already won, and it's going to take a miracle finish to rescue those men, and their families. It's not a victory for them to win on appeal 10 years from now. It's only a victory for the rest of us. And with the way the 12 have already been tried in the public mind, though that victory should come and should be assured, I wouldn't count on it.

Brooke Adams "outs" her own bias.

Ever wonder what reporters really think of the FLDS/YFZ story? Brooke Adams of the Salt Lake Tribune, slips up (?) and tells us.

The Plural Life - "Those early official claims — which included unsubstantiated allegations of sexual abuse of boys and broken bones due to abuse, which DFPS acknowledged yesterday were unfounded — were unfortunate since they clouded the real discovery that the sect had spiritually married girls as young as 12 to older men."

Even though no trial has been held, and they have not been convicted. It's obvious isn't it? There is no hint of objectivity on Ms. Adams part. "The REAL discovery" (not the alleged discovery) is that older men were married to girls as young as 12 even though it couldn't have been known without real abuse of power. All the while every reporter is careful to hedge their bets acting as if they don't know Rozita was the caller, and without saying as I do, that "there is no Sarah, you morons."

I'm not disputing that FLDS men may be actually doing a good portion of what is alleged. Not in the slightest. I do think that there remains a strong, strong possibility that the youngest of the girls was in a "betrothal." The confusion there for the rest of society is that they don't understand that Biblical Betrothal was in essence, marriage. Marriage without sex, and a state that required divorce to sunder. Merrianne Jessop may well be in such an arrangement with Warren Jeffs.

To Brooke the ends justify the means. On the scale of heinous acts that humanity can commit, even more heinous it would seem than the genocide carried out by the various state and federal government agencies arrayed against the FLDS is "child abuse" as defined by those agencies.

Ms. Adams. The REAL story is the flagrant disregard for OUR rights, the rights of the FLDS, your rights Ms. Adams and my rights, that the state exhibited when invading YFZ. Such informal precedents are dangerously real. They redefine words in our minds. "Justified" takes on new meaning. "Probable cause" deteriorates into any trumped up reason to search a home or business that results in a "find."

The real story in fact is how a woman, so TOWERINGLY stupid as Rozita Swinton, perpetrated a hoax on Texas so that they went on her story alone into YFZ with guns drawn. Does Ms. Adams think, for real, that the REAL discovery is that older men have sex with young girls? Does she HONESTLY think SHE JUST DISCOVERED this?

I have followed the Story of Rozita for almost a year now in a fashion that can only be described as obsessive by those watching me. The more I learn about her, the more I am amazed ANYONE believed her. She can't SPELL. She is a narcissistic sociopath (IMHO). She lies CONSTANTLY. She thinks she's part of some gigantic cause. Those that she thinks are her friends, her longtime associations, often don't even know who she is as she stalks them under multiple internet identities. She has pretended to be a HIGH SCHOOL student in Colorado Springs and pulled it off apparently, with those students, long after she graduated. Her opportunistic literary whore of a foster parent, Mary Catharine Nelson tried to hawk her miserable vanity press books by pointing to the good fortune that had her mention Rozita's name twice in both books. I READ one of them and found that Rozita was regularly cut OUT of the frame of the "Rev." Nelson's illustrations, because she was so UNIMPORTANT.

Yet she was believed. She now wanders around the country, going to Hospitals as a patient, visiting apparent real friends in Idaho, blogging incomprehensibly, sometimes about my "obsession" with her (no, it's an obsession with injustice, she's just there) and not having the good sense to realize that the "Hugh McBryde" who has been pursuing her, that she blogs about, is the same "Hugh McBryde" contacting her on one of her social networking accounts.

After a year of using my limited tools to find things out about Rozita, in the hope of showing how the raid was bogus, it's proven. I haven't found someone that anyone could believe. To perpetrate the Hoax, Rozita would have to have been someone else, someone she demonstrably, is not. Unless it is shown that she has real "other personalities," some of which are actually intelligent, no one can convince me that this dim Medusa has any power beyond the ability reveal people's minds, are already stone.

That's the real story. The real story is that our rights are trampled while Brooke, and virtually every member of the press deliberately ignores the fact that if you KNEW Rozita, you'd know Texas is lying. God forbid that they tell that story. The story of Texas believing what they want to believe and tossing away the rights of every man, woman and child in this country.

For most of the last 9 months, I have uncovered fact after fact after fact. I have dutifully reported on them. I have occasionally been wrong. I have put the facts in front of the people who cover them time after time. I have sometimes offered the story to reporters prior to publishing it myself. I have let others take credit for my own research, some of which those following the story have read under other people's bylines.

The REAL STORY is not that Older Men took younger girls, that does not threaten us all. What threatens us all is that an unbelievable woman was used to trump up charges and trample rights. That harms us all. The next story is that the press, entrusted with the freedoms that preserve all other freedoms, won't report that story, instead, leering and trying to catch a glimpse of old men and young girls to sell newspapers that are as bankrupt as their principles.

March Makes it a Year

The calls started coming a year ago in March.

With the sudden wind down of child custody cases, came a sudden disappearance of stories from all the major press outlets. The only story covered was a self congratulatory one from the Deseret News about what a cool job they did covering the YFZ raid. You can almost hear the doors slamming, the lights going out, the file boxes being filled and placed in storage.

Phase one, is over.

The first part of the FLDS story is that which all good hearted people (which would be most of us) could care about. Mothers separated from their children. This is never good and even CPS admits that. Now we're down to three, perhaps two children, depending on whether you believe Bill Medvecky, I do, so it's two. Effectively speaking a very small child who probably won't end up ultimately in CPS custody and 14 year old Merrianne Jessop, betrothed and/or wed to Warren Jeffs are really, in the mind of the assembled guardians of public access, not too high a price to pay in our collective conscience for getting a bunch of dirty old men.

We now know what the press thinks of Warren, and the other eleven indicted men. They are as expendable as the remaining two children. This list was originally found at the Salt Lake Tribune, but now can be found archived here;

I pointed out earlier today that our world champion "marrying kind," Linda Lou Taylor, had married first at age 16, in 1956 to a 31 year old man fresh out of the military. There was even a song in that era, celebrating age differences that they used to sing, slightly modified. Linda stayed married to that man for 7 years, and described him as her "best" husband. More recently there have been songs like the one covered by Ringo Starr, "You're 16, you're beautiful, and you're mine." Loretta Lynn marries at 13 and has a bigger family by 18, than almost anyone you now know, unless you watch the Duggers on TV and think you know them. Unless you're FLDS. And reading this.

Now the age differences of Raymond Jessop, Merril Jessop, Leroy Steed, Lehi Jeffs, Keith Dutson and their similarly aged brides are vilified and pilloried as heinous felonies. I fail to see how marrying a 16 year old becomes rape in a mere 50 years. I fail to see how it is that if you did marry, legally, a 16 year old in these days and cheated on her, that the actions of Raymond, Merril, Leroy, Lehi and Keith in marrying informally the girls they married and having others, would amount to any thing more serious than the aforementioned cheating older husband.

Let me run that by you again. I'm saying you can run out and marry a 16 year old and cheat on her and nothing will happen to you. Nothing substantively different happens to the girls of the FLDS men either, yet while they all want to remain with one another, the FLDS men are perhaps going to jail for a very long time as felons. This is nonsense. Yet this is "icky" to the press covering it, so they won't stand up for these men at all.

Linda Lou can marry her 31 year old at 16. A 13 year old can marry her 14 year old boyfriend, and cheat on him with her soccer coach. Linda Lou's husband can cheat on her with a 21 year old woman, and no one goes to jail. If you propose that what you do is marriage, but don't bother to register it, and also suppose that you can have permanent other girlfriends, you're going to jail, don't pick up the soap.

This is a nutshell is where the press is now. They're faced with investigating a story that may, in the end, result in letting 11 men go that did something we allow to happen legally, all the time, but don't want to hear about, because it's "icky." God help you if you stand up and say "what have these men done" because if you do, you'll be labeled as a pedophile.

Phase two, where the press steps back, having given the people what they want, mothers with their children, and gives over the men, to be sacrificed. After years of being told they're not needed. Men can now be thrown overboard.

To my knowledge, there is not one wife that wants to be loose from her common law spouse. All will be 18 or older when the trials start next fall. It's icky though, and we saw it, so these men must pay.

To my knowledge, there is not a child that wants to be separated from their fathers, but the above applies as well. It's icky, we saw it, the men must pay. Study after study shows the effects on children of breaking up families, of separating children from their fathers, but, it's ICKY. They MUST PAY.

So we have the press on the brink of a logical jumping off point and they're bailing it would seem. I sincerely hope I am wrong but there has been little in the way of news for about two weeks now, and by my estimation, there is only two important stories left as far as the press in concerned, and they don't happen until this fall. Merrianne Jessop going free. FLFS men going to jail. From the presses concern, this is a fair deal. Kids back with mama, and dirty men in jail. Everyone's happy, right? FLDS haters get frog walking geezers going to lock-up to be sodomized, FLDS sympathizers see mama with the kids.

I'm going on record as saying unless EVERYONE goes home, men included, I don't count it as a victory. From here on out though, I don't think there is going to be a lot of help from the press.

And I really, really hope I'm wrong about that.

Next, what I humbly see and guess is next for the FLDS.

I didn't care so it didn't matter

Forget the bootlicking of the Obamessiah, the press will generally believe anything CPS puts out.

So when Willie and Merril plead the fifth? CNN is there to lap it up. When it turns out there is possibly a video of Sheriff David Doran ignoring evidence at the YFZ gate? It get's play in a few papers, but not much. I don't care for instance that Merrianne and Barbara may be texting plots to escape (legally) her captors. I wouldn't be surprised if the stories were exaggerated, I wouldn't care if they were true, I'd probably care a little bit to be honest, if they were utterly false, I'd laugh my gut off. My butt is too skinny, so since I get to choose, it's my gut.

You can't find stories about evidence exclusion in the national news. You won't find stories that Becky Musser now can testify about the raid. The Deseret News (no Colorado papers or broadcast stations that I know of) mentioned that all of Rozita's cases got postponed again and no one, but absolutely no one is talking about the fact that Allen Steed (who?) doesn't even have a trial date. He is not, by the way, a fugitive.

It's also hardly surprising that when an affidavit that was used to arrest Rozita (backtracking now) turns out to contain a bald faced and material lie, and I find out about it.

Yawn.

They didn't care so it didn't matter.

I figure we (the supporters of the FLDS and the FLDS) went from contestants in the game to winners in the game this week, so I don't care so it doesn't matter to me, ultimately, either. It gets to the point though where it's so obvious that I'm on the other side of the fence from the national conciousness, so far on the other side of the fence, so WAY OUT in the field with reference to that fence, that I care about that, and that does matter.

A stranger, in a strange land. That I care about, and that does matter.

Does the press possess the courage to report the FLDS story?

Let me say first that without the reporting of the Salt Lake Tribune, the Deseret News, and to some extent (unconsciously) the San Angelo Standard-Times, the blogosphere around the FLDS controversy would be nowhere.

Having said that, they've settled into a sort of sing song complacency that is infuriating. It is more than difficult as a blogger to be the source of real news in this story. I for instance, am in New England, Bill Medvecky is in Florida, Kurt Schulzke is in Georgia. We're not reporters, yet some of the key events are having original reporting done on them by the bloggers.

Contrast for instance this story, in the Deseret News about two hours ago.

"Only eight children remain under court oversight as the custody battle over the children from the Fundamentalist LDS Church's YFZ Ranch withers away.

Texas Child Protective Services confirmed to the Deseret News on Tuesday that a total of 431 children have now been dropped from court jurisdiction in the ongoing child custody case. The children belong to three mothers, CPS officials said."

But this is old news since Free the FLDS Children reported this story 72 hours earlier. Perhaps with so few children left, and their release from oversight being so regular in the last four months we've become desensitized but this is big news. Five is one of the biggest number drops in the total recently. In addition, it represented almost 40% (38.4) of the remaining total. How long did it take for one (only one) member of the main stream media to report this story? THREE DAYS.

Since Bill was accurate in his reporting of this story it stands to reason his inside sources have him correctly reporting this one as well;

"After last evenings rant on a friends blog by Natalie, whereby she, as an Officer of the Court, named children involved in the CPS 'Investigation' and sent copies of the testimony of Merril Jessop to the blog to purposely inflame any possible Jury Pool against him, (Judge Walther) wasn’t too happy with her girl wonder and bitched her out loud enough to be heard in Peggy’s Office.

I’m sure (Barbara Walther) would have loved to, but neither Willie nor Merril are sitting in jail tonight for contempt of Court, but Natalie is going to have to go out tonight and buy a much larger pair of knee pads to keep barbie happy in the future."

If remotely true, this set of basic circumstances seems to suggest that Natalie Malonis is the active agent of Barbara Walther in the courtroom (news in and of itself) and confirms what a bad choice for stooge she is, and what a loose canon as well.

In addition, there is this bit of news over at Contraries, which if I understand it correctly, is what Bill refers to as "a friend's blog." An extensive section of transcript from the deposition in which Ms. Malonis, goes after the "Teresa Jeffs" child issue. Malonis as gone back and forth, but mostly towards the notion that she does think there is a child, until confronted pointedly, and then she says it's just a hypothetical that we could imagine to be true about other children.

All of this is news.

Then there is my own humble effort to expose a lie hidden in an affidavit to create the warrant to arrest Rozita Swinton, about which the Deseret News bravely says in the same article;

"Hundreds of children were taken into state custody in April when law enforcement and CPS caseworkers went to the YFZ Ranch outside Eldorado, Texas, to investigate a phone call of someone claiming to be a pregnant 16-year-old in an abusive, polygamous marriage. The call is believed to be a hoax, but authorities claimed to have found other signs of abuse on the ranch."

Oh puh-leeeeez. There are so many other ways to write that last paragraph that say so much more and still preserve the paper's position with regard to liability. They could for instance touch on the length of time it is taking to "investigate" charges against a woman who is known to own the phones from which those calls came. After all, it's in the affidavit.

Speaking of which, my own little contribution over the last week or so to the "reportage" on the story has been to reveal that the affidavit attached to the CSPD warrant of April 16th, 2008, is cleverly contructed to promote a falsehood which the press dutifully reports on as fact to this day. That falsehood is that Texas in the person of Ranger Brooks Long called CSPD and talked to Sean Mandel on Sunday, April 13th, 2008.

That is simply false.

Keeping in mind that the "raid" ended with evidence collection by the FBI (and maybe some more Texas activity) on Thursday, April the 10th, 2008, the date of April the 13th is a strange one, and not even a date substantiated by the players involved.

First of all, it's a Sunday. You don't have an Government job because you want to work weekends folks, so if you do work weekends, you don't buy troulbe on weekends. Nobody calls up from one FBI office or Police station to another on something that can wait, on a weekend.

Second, it was the FBI who contacted the FBI but the FBI agent who spoke to me personally whose story was corroborated by the CSPD Sgt. can't even tell me it DID happen on a Sunday. he "doesn't recall." "It could've been earlier" and he "doesn't recall" how he was contacted and "he didn't open a case" and I have since talked to the FBI in Dallas, and they won't comment on the fact that at one end or the other, the FBI was supposed to have opened a case, when one FBI agent requests information of another regarding a crime.

No case. No comment, and it would appear that Ranger Philip Kemp, at the very least was on record as having requested information of the FBI on the Rozita Swinton Phone Call Matter on Friday, the 11th.

I'm sorry, but this is big. You don't go through elaborate trails to hide nothing, yet it appears that this is what the FBI did.

Either Law Enforcement has either deliberately postponed looking into the Rozita Swinton matter until the raid was done, or they are covering up, in advance, the researching of where the phone calls came from. Why pray tell do you cover up carefully the investigation of something you don't know? Isn't one of the answers that you do know?

At this point Mark White of the Dallas FBI office won't even confirm to me if a case was opened to investigate the phone numbers. If Agent Steve A. Smith was lying to me (unlikely), a case should have been opened on one end or the other. The only reason Mark White won't tell me is that he either does not want to confirm the request made of Steve Smith, or he doesn't want to let us know that the FBI tried to investigate Rozita Swinton completely "off the record."

All of these things are news. The last one might even show that the FBI and Texas both knew that there was a Rozita Swinton, and that she was calling, during the raid. Maybe even right up to the point where Sheriff David Doran is standing at the gate to YFZ, wanting desperately to get in, and willing to say anything to do that.

You think everyone KNOWS about the FLDS Fiasco? Wizbang wakes up and smells Colorado

No, they're not all following the story out there, even the news hounds. What? Rozita Swinton? Who's She? Wizbang wakes up. That's a fairly big blogger to be coming so late to such basic knowledge. That's how quiet the media really is about this. This blogger didn't even know the call from "Sarah" was a fake.

"If not for Don Surber's blog post, I wouldn't have known that the FLDS travesty, was all the result of an adult pretending to be sixteen."

That's how little awareness there is about the whole mess. I'll bet he doesn't know about her tangled relationships either. After all, only a small fraction of the press is covering it. More →

Rozita Fooled you ONCE, shame on her, But Now she's fooled you TWICE, shame on you.

Ok Press, THAT'S TWICE Rozita Swinton has avoided you. First on Friday she slips in early and ALONE, with a new "do" and terminator glasses. Of course, nothing's wrong, it's just one of those things, so and so the prosecutor, had to "be in Denver" later that morning. That's ONCE.

Then Monday, neither SHE nor her ATTORNEY show for the court date that has been splattered all over the press. Instead, she slips in TUESDAY after "making a mistake" about the time and place and needing to show up, and the court goes along with it, canceling the arrest warrant. There was the curious phrasing in the notification to the press late Monday afternoon that they'd have more TOMORROW which virtually screamed that they were in contact with Ms. Swinton. The exact words that Kathleen Walsh used were;

"I will not have further information until tomorrow (Tuesday) at the earliest."

We now know what this probably meant, "I'm in ongoing discussions with the client and her attorney, we'll let you know, maybe tomorrow (Tuesday)." David Foley doesn't show up because he knows she won't be there. Rozita doesn't show up Monday either. David talks to the court, and we sneak Rozita in on Tuesday.

I'm sorry, but I'd be so hot right now if I were the press that I'd have a private detective on Rozita like icing on cake until the next court date. There's CLEARLY a story here. CLEARLY people don't want us or you to know what it is. Silence at the San Angelo Standard-Times on Carey Cockerell

(Cockerell, back to the Camera, testifies before Lawmakers April 30th, 2008.)

As the largest closest Newspaper to the FLDS story, the San Angelo Standard-Times has been a go to paper for breaking details and news on a number of occasions. They clearly act at times as if they wish the story would go away and at times, I am sure they are a bit understaffed when it comes to covering stories not on the streets of San Angelo. So I gave them a break when it came to reporting Carey Cockerell's resignation. After all it is the largest closest paper but the story did come out strategically timed on a Friday afternoon in the middle of a stock market sell off. You have to give them a break, they are only large by local standards.

But it's SUNDAY. A lot of smaller papers blow past a weekend edition when it comes to content. Saturday's paper usually get's the shaft. Sunday bulks up for leisurely reading, advertising and opinion. In Kalispell the "Daily Interlake" doesn't publish a Saturday edition, opting instead to come in late, and put out a Sunday edition, late Saturday evening.

Everybody gets a section of the paper on Sunday, kids fight over the comics and parents read the news and opinion columns, with Dad probably competing with teen sons over the sports section. So you save the "good stuff" for when people will pay attention.

There is nothing on the Carey Cockerell resignation. Nothing at all. Not a PEEP in the Standard-Times. The last story involving Mr. Cockerell is two months old.

This mirrors a major media silence on the story now that it's gone sour for them and by sour I mean, they don't have their "sex-beds" and their pregnant teens anymore so now they want to take their kleig lights and go home. If this had been the Scooter Libby resigning, or getting subpeoned they'd have been all over it. I grant you it's an election year and the FLDS story is not national election politics, but it is the LARGEST CHILD CUSTODY CASE IN US HISTORY, and it's no longer being covered. Carey Cockerell was a full on participant in the lies told by CPS against the FLDS, intoning before a Texas lawmaker's committee that 41 cases of broken bones "some among very young children" was a "cause for concern." Why the MSM is still staying out of the FLDS Fiasco

There is Bill O'Reilly (and those like him) and their "sex bed" comments and unbridled mouths that has put them in the position of having to eat too much crow, but then there is the rest of the MSM Establishment. I now include my old conservative "mentor" at the EIB institute, Rush Limbaugh as MSM Establishment . I cannot tell you how disappointed I am in him over this business. He's been a coward.

Why?

It's very simple. The creep of cultural values has led us to believe that 15 year old girls, are "children." Never mind that I was told by nearly every girl in grade school that she was "more mature." Never mind that biologically girls do mature faster than boys, we've accepted that they are "children." The rest of the world outside western culture does not, but we have. That is a rather recent development as well. William Petty is quoted as saying during the 1600's that "Irish women marry upon their first capacity." (Ireland: A New Economic History, 1780-1939 By Cormac Ó Gráda).

In Korea, it is stated that "in older times, most brides were teenage girls" though the age has now risen to mid twenties. In this century, among the Yoruba of Nigeria it is observed;

"Marriage age is most closely related to education in the case of women. Olusanya found that girls in Ibadan with no education had an average marriage age of 18, compared with 23 for secondary-school leavers and 25 for university graduates (1967). Many children enter school relatively late and have their schooling interrupted by their parents' financial problems. Some are over 20 by the time they leave secondary school. Generally, the higher the level of education, the more likely the couple are to come from different towns or different Yoruba subgroups."

It is generally desired by most quoting such statistics that "smart" or "advanced" or "educated" people don't marry young because they are smarter more advanced and educated, neglecting the fact that education takes time and postpones marriage.

If it is a choice between morality and education though, I choose morality. That is the highest form of education. I conclude that western civilization with it's emphasis on education and women's rights has in fact produced a whoring society that cannot wait just as those of us in times past could not. But in times past, it wasn't a sin, it was acceptable. Now it is pedophilia.

Since this creep of cultural values has now taken firm root, pedophilia has now encompassed a formerly normal inclination that is turned criminal. Pedophilia has gone from having sex with prepubescent children to include fully developed young girls whose status as women in times past was determined by marriage and sexual experience, but is now determined by age. That age being set by our educational mores and laws commanding all young people to stay in school to a certain age.

Since that expanded definition of pedophilia is now determined to be by whatever law a state passes, we have a situation where in 2005 you could have sex with a 14 year old in Texas on a given Friday in August, and on the next Friday night in September, you were liable for life imprisonment and the branding of "pervert" and "pedophile." The stench of pedophilia is so powerful that none of our MSM friends or enemies are willing to stand by the FLDS for fear that after all the DNA evidence comes in, there will be found one pedophile by legal standards.

So they stay away. Never mind that even if this one instance is discovered, the incidence of such pedophilia as legally defined is much greater outside YFZ. One pedophile is enough to drive away all interest on the Right and Left in protecting the rights of our citizenry. In fact, one pedophile discovered by breaking down every door of every church in a suburb and imprisoning all children until they were found would justify it. In fact just the RUMOR that there was a pedophile would justify the destruction of all rights of every person until every semen stain was examined and everyone's DNA tested. It wouldn't matter that we discover a pedophile we had not known about before hand, the safety of the children would be so transcendent that the gross violation of everyone's rights would be justified.

Texas is thus allowed to keep investigating even though they investigate nothing. To investigate something, they would have had to have the suspicion of a certain crime, which even now they do not have. But they believe and so does all the MSM establishment that ultimately, if they keep investigating everyone that such a "predator" will be found. They're sure of it. If they then support the clear rights of those being wrongfully investigated now, they will be shown to be the supporter of pedophiles later. And that they fear, will be the end for them. More →

I Dare Texas Again. Mainstream media slowly waking up.

I repeat the dare that I have made to Texas. Come up with a case number, a name, in which there is an INTERSECTION between the set of what was "eyeballed" at YFZ as Pregnant Underage Girls, and the "girls" they now have in state custody that are pregnant or were pregnant in the last month and a half. This is crucial. Texas was down to three pregnant girls, two of which were obvious. Showing. Two have given birth. WHO DID THEY EYEBALL?

The Houston Chronicle - "The teenager, 18-year-old Pamela Jeffs, gave birth to a boy on April 29. CPS officials said she was one of 27 girls in a 'disputed' minor category who once told CPS they were adults but later indicated they were under 18.

All 27 girls were among 463 children taken from the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints' Yearning For Zion Ranch near Eldorado on April 4 and 5 after the state insisted all were either sexually or physically abused or at risk of abuse. Three weeks later, the children were scattered to foster care facilities throughout the state.

And now some are claiming to be have been adults all along.

The revelation came at a hearing in San Angelo on Tuesday, when a CPS attorney said a new mother who was in protective custody as a minor was in fact an adult, CPS spokeswoman Marleigh Meisner said."

If Texas did not see a pregnant underage girl then their second premise for the continued search, seizure and imprisonment of YFZ women and children fails. Namely, that they "eyeballed" evidence of another crime.

There is no SARAH you morons.

You SAW no other crime.

Texas, please, give up, quit, before the FLDS can sue the state into being chattel of the church.
