Can you say "unseen tax?" Sure you can. I knew you could. Of course, the rich fat cats of America's franchised dealers can afford it. Right?

Associated Content - "Cash for Clunkers taxable income rumors are false! Cash for Clunkers taxable income rumors are spreading around the internet like wildfire as several internet blogs have started claiming that there will be unseen taxes on the program.I didn't buy under the clunker deal, so it won't affect me. None of the paperwork I had customers sign had that disclosure. In Vermont there was no sales tax charged on the Clunker Cash.
These internet blogs are stating that the Cash for Clunkers income is taxable, and that people will have to pay taxes on the $3,500 or $4,500 that they received in the form of an income tax. These blogs are hoping that they can scare people into coming to their sites to give them hits, but in reality, those blogs are just spreading mis-information about a program that thousands of Americans have already taken advantage."
Fox News - The Transportation Department said (today) the government will wind down the program on Monday at 8 p.m. EDT. Car buyers can receive rebates of $3,500 or $4,500 for trading in older vehicles for new, more fuel-efficient models.Good Riddance. Obama declared the program a success beyond the administrations "wildest dreams." Apparently all Obama dreams about is spending money on foreign cars, which takes the money for good paying jobs on American Assembly lines and hands the money would have paid for them to good paying jobs on foreign assembly lines.
YAHOO/AP - "(T)he Transportation Department, which has collected details about 157,000 rebate requests, won't release sales data that dealers provided showing how much U.S. car manufacturers are benefiting from the $1 billion initially pumped into the program.""Shovel Ready" jobs for you someday maybe, and indoor factory work for foreigners today.
The Associated Press - "The Transportation Department called congressional offices late Thursday to alert them to the decision to halt the program, which offered owners of old cars and trucks $3,500 or $4,500 toward a new, more fuel-efficient vehicle. Most people think that Fat Cat Car Dealers are awash with infinite reserves of money. Or maybe they thought that until 2 out of the "Big Three" went Bankrupt over the summer. On the one hand my dealer is pressured even today by the factory to build a new multi million dolloar showroom, on the other, we participated in a government program where we dispense the money in $3500.00 to $4500.00 increments that if we don't file the paperwork exactly right (and there are mountains of documents), you are bumped to the bottom of the line.
The congressional officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
Through late Wednesday, 22,782 vehicles had been purchased through the program and nearly $96 million had been spent. But dealers raised concerns of large backlogs in the system, prompting the suspension."
