Governor Perry

You were able to move at lighting speed with the threat of deadly force, well coordinated, with respect to American Citizens.

Does this mean you won't do it again, because politically, it works for you and you're cynically using a conflict with the President to further your own political career?

Does it mean you can't do it, and had to have collusion with the Federal Government to do it the first time, in 2008? More →

The Real White Racist take on the Zimmerman Trial

The real racist's reaction in a nutshell (warning, STRONG LANGUAGE):

When all of this Zimmerman Martin stuff started, my instant take on the situation was, "If I was a racist, why would I care?" D. L. Hughley after all, says all white people use the "N" word when they think no one else is around. At that point, I gave up and started to use the word (rhetorically).

Then all this "White Hispanic" nonsense started. I largely saw it as a way of suckering in a misled "Black" or "African American" community into believing that their problems were external. Instead of looking inward they look outward, for the source of their problems. It was all too easy to stir up support.

Only now has the media community on the right started to become vocal about the the observation that President Obama is as "White African" as George Zimmerman is "White Hispanic." Around the house I've been pointing that out for the last five plus years. Oh well, now I can start calling our Fearless Leader "White Chocolate." It's a sort of Darryl Dawkins thing.

The Simple Answer for "Romney's Tax Returns"

It's one sentence long.

If there was anything criminal being concealed in Romney's tax returns, the IRS would be on it already.

That's the 1040EZ answer. The long form answer is that you better believe in a world of Joe the Plumber, those who want to know what's in them, already know what's in them. If there was anything criminal in them the investigation would have been started from outside the IRS by another Government agency, acting as a proxy for the Obama Campaign.

All that is contained in Romney's tax returns is information that can be characterized in a way that places Romney in a poor light with the electorate. It stands to reason that if these things are spoken of in public by Obama's campaign, or leaked, it will be fairly obvious that the point of origin of the information, was his Tax Returns. It will be fairly evident that the Conduit from the IRS to the Electorate (General Public) will be an inquiring Government official, who gives the information to the Press.

This of course is another reason you do not want the Government in Health care, since that unsightly lesion you have in thus and so a region, can become the topic of political speculation.

Thomas Jefferson LIVES in Ron Paul? Really?

Ron Paul has a plethora of quotes on his site from Thomas Jefferson.
"Presidential Historian" and author Doug Weed says something to the effect that Thomas is reincarnated in Ron Paul. A discussion has been going on in a Facebook forum where it is asserted that when Ron Paul becomes President, our marriage issues will be essentially resolved. This relies on the same error that elects most bad Presidents, and the one that elected (in part), Barack Obama. It is that a President DOES have that much power (God save us), or that he will should have that much power. If a President is fulfilling his role as President, he shouldn't matter that much. He's important, but shouldn't matter that much. Thus when the time comes, I can vote for a Mitt Romney, or a John McCain, and do so happily. I seek to solve the nations ills on the level of Ron Paul's CURRENT office, that of Congressman. Elect another 300 Ron Paul types and fill the Senate with them too, and Barack's job is a desk job. I happily inveigh for the guy I want in the Presidency, and then go to the polling booth and try to build a more libertarian state, in the houses of Congress. My problem with Pauliacs and Paulie-Annas is that they think he will fix things as President. About the most that a President can do in a short period of time is mess things up. I contend Barack has done this, and that Ron Paul, if successful in any of his plans, would do more of the same. His solutions sound like lopping off limbs without anesthesia. The shock may well kill us. You have to go slowly so as not to capsize the ship of state. Phasing out bad programs over 5 years seems much more reasonable to me that trying to revamp them overnight. Pauliacs also forget (as he conveniently does) that Thomas Jefferson was the author of one of our Barbary wars. The first one. The Marine hymn intones "to the shores of Tripoli" for this reason. It's best to see what the founders DID with their ideas. It tells us more accurately what they really meant. A war. Halfway around the world. With Muslims. How George Bush I & II. I have concluded that Ron Paul has found out that running for President is a really good job, but he's got people believing his junk to the point that they may hand the election to the wrong guy. The really wrong guy. The Stones once said that politics was a "choice between Cancer and Polio." Few wiser things have been said. As I have said elsewhere, vote your conscience in the primaries, but vote defensively in the General Election. We can't let the wrong lizard get in (thanks Douglas Adams). Barack Obama is the Wrong Lizard. I'll vote for Romney because Romney isn't the Wrong Lizard. I'll vote as conservatively and as libertarian as I can in the Congressional elections in my state. I'll pray for the best. Why say this now? A large number of my Christian Polygynist friends insist on voting for Ron Paul, and in many cases, no one, if they can't vote for Dr. Paul. One friend went so far as to say he thinks it's all going to burn anyway, so the sooner the better. I ally more with King Hezekiah with peace and truth in his time. It's good that disaster comes tomorrow, far into the future, when we are gone. I've no desire to see the world burn in my time, or that of my children. If my children don't want it to burn for their children or in their time, they should see to it themselves, I will be gone. A vote for Ron or for no one in November is a vote for Barack Obama and destruction. I will not in a prissy way, declare that i won't vote for a man I essentially despise (Mitt Romney) to prove I don't like the choices given to me. A choice is a choice. If you don't make it, you really have made it. Be proactive. Do your best. Smile with me in November and vote for Mitt enthusiastically. Do your best to send him a congress with ideas like yours. Mitt's a capable administrator. That REALLY is the job of President. The discussion also included a Pollyanna view of how marriage laws would be made to change. Sorta a wand gets waived and it's done. No. Two things stand in the way of marriage laws being changed to be less intrusive. Marriage is a province of the State as long as there are income taxes, and statutory rape laws. In the first case, the Government wants to know your family classification so that they can assess your place in a progressive tax structure. "Progressive" is a nice way of saying "Tax the OTHER guy." Get rid of income taxes and you kick one strut out of the necessity of having legally registered marriages, which I despise more so than I do Mitt Romney. Child Rape laws raise a lot of dust in the discussion. Again, like with taxes, to make the laws work, people need to be classified. We forget easily that the Government doesn't really care if children are having sex, they only care if they have sex with adults without the proper papers. Marriage papers. There's no way out of legal registration of marriage if you allow sub 18 year old people to marry, and all states do. Ron Paul won't fix marriage. Ron Paul is a charlatan. Ron Paul is sucking away votes and we have a lot to do before marriage is in a more ideal state than it is today. Until then, vote for the least wrong lizard, and work for legalization of plural marriage. That's all I can offer. I can't offer Ron to you as a solution. He's not.

A man has to know his limitations. (If it was all Bush's fault, it's all Obama's fault.)

After watching Peggy Noonan blow the analysis of the Obama Presidency, someone says it loud and clear.
I'd have said it myself, but I've been busy, and besides, who'd listen? Nevertheless, here it is in a nutshell:
The Washington Examiner - "It was a surprisingly simplistic argument that, unfortunately for President Obama, has become a nihilistic genie who cannot be put back into a bottle. Having let forth the argument that the president is literally responsible for anything bad that happens during his administration, it’s a bit hard now for the public to be persuaded that it’s really not Obama’s fault that oil is spewing into the ocean off American shores."
The fact is, it isn't Barry's fault, but that's the liberal/progressive argument of big Government. Government can do this for you, it can do it quickly. It can do it nimbly. Big Government can do it the right way and we need them to do it.

Whatever "it" is, Big Government can do it. Provided you let US (liberal progressive Democrats), be your Big Government.

Well, it can't. Assuming Barack Hussien Obama is the best possible man for the Presidency at this point in time, and the best selection ever for that office, there is one fly in the ointment.

He's irrelevant.

That's the Conservative argument in a nutshell. Government, while necessary, can't do it all, and in fact can do surprisingly little. Except make an even bigger mess of things.

A man has to know his limitations. All men do. Particularly Presidents.

It's official (sorta), Cash for Clunkers selling FOREIGN cars

I told you so.
YAHOO/AP - "(T)he Transportation Department, which has collected details about 157,000 rebate requests, won't release sales data that dealers provided showing how much U.S. car manufacturers are benefiting from the $1 billion initially pumped into the program."

US Government Plunders Small Business thru Cash for Clunkers

As many of you may know, I work for a New Car dealership. Just as suddenly as the complex bulky Cash for Clunkers program started, it's apparently over.
The Associated Press - "The Transportation Department called congressional offices late Thursday to alert them to the decision to halt the program, which offered owners of old cars and trucks $3,500 or $4,500 toward a new, more fuel-efficient vehicle.

The congressional officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

Through late Wednesday, 22,782 vehicles had been purchased through the program and nearly $96 million had been spent. But dealers raised concerns of large backlogs in the system, prompting the suspension."
Most people think that Fat Cat Car Dealers are awash with infinite reserves of money. Or maybe they thought that until 2 out of the "Big Three" went Bankrupt over the summer. On the one hand my dealer is pressured even today by the factory to build a new multi million dolloar showroom, on the other, we participated in a government program where we dispense the money in $3500.00 to $4500.00 increments that if we don't file the paperwork exactly right (and there are mountains of documents), you are bumped to the bottom of the line.

In effect, the government seems to be banking on us giving out the "assistance" and then they're going to stick us with the bill, plundering American small business through complex regulations, filing procedures and a suddenly empty till. You get your cash for your clunker, Joe Dealer could have all his profit in the program eaten up by denied claims, and then some. It's another form of wealth redistribution and taxation.

Another observation from first hand experience. The vast majority of the "Cash for Clunkers" claims have been for foreign cars. Not only are the dealers having some of their wealth redistributed, we are all, through the spending of Tax Dollars having our wealth go to pay Koreans for what they build, or Japanese for what they build. I mean not just foreign car companies, cars actually built overseas. The entire labor costs of some models are being subsidized by you through this program.

On top of that, we are destroying perfectly good cars. I emphasize that is a literal remark. We are required to destroy the engines of the "clunkers" prior to them leaving the lot. If a claim is denied on the 1998 Dodge Dakota V8 Club Cab pickup with 88,000 miles in pristine condition, it's already gone. 5spd, 4wd, 318 V8. A perfect work vehicle for a contractor on a budget. If we are unable to complete the claim, we've lost a vehicle we might have been able to retail out of and we don't get the money. Classic.

With Obama giving away portions of Chrysler to Fiat and paying foreign car companies while destroy our already accumulated wealth in the form of perfectly good cars and trucks, it almost looks as if he is intentionally taking down the US Economy to pay back foreign donors. Remember all those untraceable $200.00 donations he received?

Changing Bankruptcy Horses in the Middle of the Stream

The Obama Administration hops off one horse of the economic apocalypse, and onto another.
The Automotive News - "Judge Arthur Gonzalez approved the $2 billion sale of the assets to a new company that will be 68 percent controlled by a health care trust aligned with the United Auto Workers union.

Fiat will control 20 percent, the U.S. and Canadian governments will control the other 12 percent.

In his written opinion, Judge Gonzalez said the only alternative to approving the sale was the 'immediate liquidation' of the company and that he was concerned about saving the value of Chrysler as a continuing operation.

'Indeed, because of the overriding concern of the U.S. and Canadian governments to protect the public interest, the terms of the Fiat Transaction present an opportunity that the marketplace alone could not offer, and that certainly exceeds the liquidation value,' Gonzalez wrote in a 47-page opinion.

Chrysler filed for bankruptcy protection on April 30 to complete the sale and alliance with Fiat within 60 days in a case that analysts have seen as a test for the much bigger and more complex bankruptcy of GM."
Which is what your Modern Pharisee said 4 days before the bankruptcy. Now that it's practically speaking, all over for Chrysler (yes, they will live) it's time for GM to go under the knife. The argument being "we didn't kill Chrysler, and we won't kill GM."

I'm not even going to pretend that I'm keeping up. There is considerable question as to whether or not Government intervention was necessary but Rahm Emanuel is never one to let a good crisis go by underutilized, so if GM and Chrysler could have sailed through without the help of the feds, we'll never know. I guarantee that the Federal Government which is entirely controlled by Democrats would never want us to know we could have survived by ourselves. In the end it may be that GM would have survived, and Chrysler would not have and the Feds needed a guinea pig to show that the could avoid killing the patient. Dying Chrysler gets the experimental miracle drug and lives to tell about it. Mildly feverish GM gets the injection whether it needed it or not. Like I said, it's way too big and I'll have to wait for history to be written, which hopefully we'll be around as a nation to read.

Along the way there have been allegations of Obama franchise murders that were designed to "get back at" Republican opponents. You better believe that if Democrat operatives didn't bump off a few car dealer enemies along the way, they sure thought of it. I thought of it immediately myself but had no time and none of the resources to check it out and eventually other more connected bloggers sniffed out the story. I still say it may be much ado about nothing. I have only worked for one Democrat car dealer and he backed Obama in the last election cycle. Vocally. He lost his Jeep franchise in a county Obama carried. He was not in a financially unsound position.

In the end, Ford will have to do this too. The UAW lynch mob is at the gates having successfully pulled a revolt at GM and Chrysler, elbowing their way into the board room, they now have Ford right where they want them in terms of bargaining power. Ford may not have needed to go bankrupt and may complain until doomsday that they had the right to survive as the sole American Automaker, but that ship has sailed. Now they are saddled with unattractive Union commitments and costs that the other two of the big three have shed. Ford either goes slowly under the waves, or signs onto some version of what the other two have been forced to accept.

In the end, with behavioral precedents now firmly set, when the Government comes knocking, Ford execs will likely get up, dust their chairs, pack their knick knacks in boxes and head for the doors, just like Chrysler and GM because disturbing perceived realities are now governing.

Today at my dealership the Governor of our state came by. I got the chance to shake the hand of the man who vetoed gay marriage in Vermont. I guess that's my first official function as a lobbyist. Rumors were flying around that he was here to "give us the Jeep franchise." This from a sales force that I though would have known better. They knew the Jeep dealer up the street did not survive the Chrysler Bankruptcy and they thought "Oh, government awards franchises." Hence the rumor.

He was actually here to sign the new Vermont franchise legislation for car dealerships. Governor Douglas was actually more aggressive in taking customers as they walked through the door than our salespeople were. The owner of my place of business was relaxed and happy since he had worked hard on that legislation. He had the news tucked under his belt that the road was all downhill now on Chrysler's trouble and he has no GM franchises to sweat. Other shoes will continue to drop, but for now it looks like we'll be here for a while. It's probable that some GM dealers hadn't let it be known they "Got the Letter," But now that GM is in Chapter 11, there will be a list. I imagine some employees in some dealerships that though they survived are in for a rude surprise. No doubt more dealerships will fall under the axe.

Hey! I thought of that too! Or was that oneth? Firstest?

Almost immediately after the list of closing Chrysler Dealers came out, and it was a bit skewed from what personal experience said was "good sense," I began to wonder.
Was the Perpetually Campaigning Obama Administration persecuting Republican Campaign Contributors? My wife and I discussed it, and I complained that it was a great story, and I utterly lacked the resources to follow it up. So I didn't.

Too bad for me, and too bad for the wonderful self promotion it would have provided but I figured someone one notice if it was happening.

Some did.

Thanks to the Common Room for pointing to the stories.

Here at "Hyscience."

At "Redstate."

"Hot Air".

"Michelle Malkin."

And Reuters.

It would have been indecent to throw it out there as speculation without foundation but there were stories of recently renovated large market Chrysler dealerships that had been cut off.

Additionally there are inexplicable examples of closures, and non closures that I can cite from personal experience. Holes in the wall in no place USA, still open and surrounded by competitors at all points of the compass.

To be fair though most Car Dealers are Republican, at least in my subjective experience. Raving support for Barack Obama didn't do Flanagan's any good when the axe flew.

What Did She Mean?

Having endured vicariously a Judicial Bully in the person of Barbara Walther, this concerns me, because Judge Sotomayor is being called a bully.

Frankly, the issue of whether or not this potential "Supreme" is a Latina and the "peril" that might be involved in "attacking" her is all the more reason in my humble opinion, to eviscerate her, provided that is the "right(s)" response. We are no longer a "racist nation" so her status as a "Latina" is utterly irrelevant other than I would think it provides a chance to showcase the idea that whatever race you are, if you're an idiot leftist, the political right stands ready to field dress you (figuratively) on the spot.
The New Republic - "The most consistent concern was that Sotomayor, although an able lawyer, was 'not that smart and kind of a bully on the bench,' as one former Second Circuit clerk for another judge put it. 'She has an inflated opinion of herself, and is domineering during oral arguments, but her questions aren't penetrating and don't get to the heart of the issue.' (During one argument, an elderly judicial colleague is said to have leaned over and said, 'Will you please stop talking and let them talk?')"
A Judge in love with her own opinions and the wisecracking sound of her own voice? This is a Judge with her mind already made up and I've seen one of those before. Judge Walther "made herself clear" and then promptly lost control of her courtroom. Do we need a Supreme that's going to start verbal brawls in our highest court?

So what did she mean in the above clip? If she's a Judicial Bully and she likes to hang with her "crowd" and make snickering inside jokes about writing law from the bench or "making policy" there, she's the most dangerous sort of Justice. We'll be listening to her enjoy the sound of her own voice for decades to come and at worst, she will lead the liberal charge on our bench for 30 years or more, at best she will be a marginalized joke.

She could be making an honest remark about the unfortunate nature of courts in this country, that policy is indeed made from the bench whether that be appropriate or not. In that case Sonia Sotomayor will probably take a dim view of it when she spots egregious examples of law making from the bench and from the tone of her voice, in the above clip, it's possible she just might mean that. I doubt it. Consider the author of her nomination.

If Judge Sotomayor is a winking middle finger flashing equivalent of her nominating President, she should be fought tooth and nail for whatever faint hope of her defeat there might be. If she's just a liberal Judge, well, we have a Liberal President and a Liberal House and a Liberal Senate where there is a filibuster proof Liberal majority and the only useful purpose of resisting her will be the simple benefit of illustrating who Liberals are.

It looks like the Obama administration will print $8 Billion Barack Bucks and use Fiat to save Chrysler. Remember Yugo?
