Warren Jeffs in Texas

Personally, I think they should have fought it out to the US Supreme court, but I don't really know how such a process might work, or if it is available to Warren. I agree with his attorneys that this effectively ends any attempt to prosecute Mr. Jeffs in Utah, it's just that you won't hear that said in the upcoming stories about his trial in Texas.
The Salt Lake Tribune - "(Warren Jeffs') first court hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. (today), a spokesman for the Texas Attorney General’s Office said."
That's in ten minutes.

My take on the speedy trial question is thaat it had to be on record as being addressed and then denied in Utah courts, so that it is available should the case ever come up again.

I see the disadvantage of the pending Utah charges that may be mentioned in a Texas trial, but the cost of going to federal courts on it must not have weighed well against what the results might have provided.

I have been thinking about that. It may in fact be the strategy to now move the charges be dismissed. Again this is where general understanding of law takes an extreme back seat to specific application and law.

I think that what Utah did here, was practically speaking, say that they are dropping the charges.

Hang him. He's a child molester who encouraged , facilitated, and ordered other men to do the same.

No one is above the law. He KNEW he was breaking the law of the United States and the various states he was in, and didn't care.

If you agree with him, you're just a pedophile looking for a good argument that your "feelings" are okie-dokie with God.

No one indeed. Including the law. Warren Jeffs has been convicted of NOTHING at all. You convict yourself as part of a murderous vigilante lynch mob and you've no clue what a pedophile is. By ANY definition, Warren is not & neither am I.

Ummmm...anyone who is over 18 who would marry a 13 or 14 year old girl, perform marriages between girls younger than 14 and 50 year old men, and actually arrange said marriages, is a pedophile. Use religion as an excuse, but you're still a pedophile. He has done all of the things I stated above, although he called them "spiritual" marriages, but they were consummated, hence he's a pedophile.

That ain't brain surgery, Pharisee.

Nope, it's noy Buckwheat. Clinically, to be a pedophile, you have to be interested in the "pre-pubescent" (no hair down there) and legally, you gotta be convicted. So no. On both counts.

Buckwheat.

Say hello to Alfalfa.

"The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) defines pedophilia as a "disorder of adult personality and behaviour" in which there is a sexual preference for children of prepubertal or early pubertal age."

One could hardly argue that a 13 to 15 year old girl is not either prepubertal or of an early pubertal age. So on the first count, you're in error (unless your definition is from the FLDS dictionary).

As far as the second count, it's just a matter of time. Utah and Arizona chose not to prosecute/retry simply because the evidence is stronger in Texas, and the penalties far worse.

If he's cleared in Texas, he'll be back awaiting trial in Arizona and Utah.

Less so than you. I simplified. I really had no desire to be that complex. Essentially pedophilia is a sexual orientation to the "un" or "underdeveloped." This makes young age a strong "co" incident with pedophilia, but your continual cites regarding age say you simply wish to torture the definition for stagey sound bites.

A similar error surrounds the misuse of schizophrenia as a synonym for multiple personalities.

I see you admit that legally, you are entitled to no such use.

Arizona dismissed their charges "with prejudice." They're done. Stop lying or do your homework.

Utah killed every chance for a new trial with extradition. They knew anyway there would be no second trial.

Warren is an unconvicted citizen of this country, presumed innocent. I imagine he could buy guns and vote, given the opportnity.

Apparently, the Rev. Buckweet is Stamp/John. After I chided Buck on his misuse of the term "Pedophile," it is apparent the perennial loudmouth and insult artist (he is kinda consistently good at it, isn't he?), started using the term "Hebephiliac," a term he apparently coined from "Hebephilia."

So I'm contributing to the idiot's education. It's a good thing I guess.
