Jimmy Carter is also a Lousy Carpenter.

Was there anything President Carter did right?

The London Times - "Fairway Oaks was built on northern Florida wasteland by 10,000 volunteers, including (Former President Jimmy) Carter, in a record 17-day 'blitz' organised by the charity Habitat for Humanity.

Eight years later it is better known for cockroaches, mildew and mysterious skin rashes.

A forthcoming legal battle over Fairway Oaks threatens the reputation of a charity envied for the calibre of its celebrity supporters, who range from Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt to Colin Firth, Christian Bale and Helena Bonham Carter.

The case could challenge the bedrock philosophy behind Habitat for Humanity, claiming that using volunteers, rather than professional builders, is causing as many problems as it solves."

Either it's a case of incompentance, where the builders picked, can't build, or it's a case of you can't help certain people. In either case, why bother? The case for incompetence.

"One man pulled up his floorboards to find rubbish 5ft deep under his kitchen. Other complaints include cracking walls and rotting door frames that let in rats and ants. Many residents have complained of mildew and mysterious skin rashes."

Holy Love Canal President Jimmy! One charitable neighbor suggested the homeowners simply get a lawyer (they're poor, right?) or use bleach. Maybe that's the right though, that the hand that fed, shouldn't be bitten, but it's a mess, isn't it?

Good grief, it is Florida, you will have mildew and watch out for roaches.
Roaches can be brought home from various stores, Produce is the worst carrier. How can someone blame builders for roaches?
My mom said, "Not a shame to get them, a shame to Keep them."
I have an unexplainable rash now, my home is just a couple years old, can I sue the builder?

I agree that in Florida you have both if you don't maintain the home. An 8 year old home in Florida with no roaches? That's a home that no one turns on the kitchen light, late at night.

Cracking walls and door frames which let in ants and rats. A homeowner would repair that doorway at first sign of rotting.
Ants? Another problem not only in Fla. Cracking walls. Is it the Wall ir the interior wallboard or plaster and paint.
Anyway!! Let's sue!
