Personal Needs

I am suddenly beginning to have real issues with my vision.
It might just be eye strain. It could be a need for a new prescription. Of course, it could be more serious. As always, my financial situation is precarious so I tend to make decisions of this sort in an "economic" way. I don't run to the Doctor even though I have very good insurance, but I instead wait to see how things sort out.

For instance, I broke my right big toe in what appeared to be two places Monday and opted not to go to the Doctor. I've broken toes before and all they say is, "Yeah, it's broken," and tape it to the toe next to it and send me home with bills for x-rays and a visit.

As with all things expensive, I tend to wait around and see if symptoms pass or things change. This isn't passing, it seems to be getting steadily worse. The issues started with an increased sensitivity to light.

Since I am mildly behind on all my bills, I'm not in a hurry to run off and spend new money at a Doctor who might just say "Don't spend so much time in front of the computer screen" or "Wear dark glasses" or "get new glasses."

This hopping back and forth from frying pan to fire and back again is not my idea of a good time.

Prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Ziggy's diet is a guarantee of good health:
Daily multi-vitamin/mineral + beta carotene supplement + 5 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables. And highly restrict processed foods and foods with hydrogenated oils.

Be sensible and go get looked at!

You mentioned that you have good insurance, if you don't need a referral from a primary care physician, go directly to at Opthalmologist and skip the Optometrist.

Please believe me when I say that vision problems can sometimes be the sign of something more medically significant. If you go and they say "get new glasses" or something equally as simple, say a prayer of thanks and do it. If it doesn't go away, persist until you find out the cause of the problem.

It could save you money in the long run and may even save your life.

I agree with Ziggy and Cheese. Go have your eyes checked.
Computers put more strain on our eyes then day to day use.
I must have two pair of glasses, one for the computer, another for daily wear.
We would not want you to have eye problems when you have so much to share with us.

Please take care of yourself.

Hugh,

Eyes are the window to the rest of your body, and I don't need to go into Glaucoma or any of those other insidious things that could be going on, the sooner you get onto Glaucoma the better chance you have of dealing with it. Furthermore, if your blood pressure is high, that can manifest there, I will pray for you, but faith and prayers without works are in vain, so, my prayer is that you will go see your eye doctor.

Hugh,
Would I be correct if I guessed you have blue eyes?

Extremely blue, it is what my wife said she noticed about me first, when we met.

It is common for the blue to lighten with age and light, especially that in the peripheral range of your vision, to bother you. Like a curtain being open or a light on to one side of you creates light that actually hurts your eyes.

This does not rule out there being a problem a doctor should check.
